Tristan Bates Theatre
The Tristan Bates Theatre is a thorn in the side of the West End. This intimate award-winning studio has received critical acclaim for "Crush" (Fringe First Award 2009, and National Tour), "I Found My Horn", "Lilly Through The Dark", "Ed Rapley", "Motherland", "And Then You Die!", "Louder Than Words", "Ignition" and the "Midnight Matinees". The Midnight Matinees have toured the UK including sell-out performances at the Edinburgh Festival 2010 and are now being brought to Zagreb. The Tristan Bates Theatre will be working with both Teatar Gaudeamus and Studio Kubus on this late night cross-arts adventure which coincides with the European 'Night of Theatre' festival.

Drawn to plays that have an immediacy and relevance today: the stories that need to be told, the voices that need to be heard, they are continually looking forward, seeking new challenges and scaling new heights; bringing the next generation of new writing to the stage today. "True Love Waits", a commission by Kenneth Emson, Evan Placey and Marcelo Dos Santos, is an explosive, darkly comic drama of three interweaving monologues for three women writing to a prisoner on death row.
Paines Plough, founded in 1974 in the UK by the Arts Council of England, is working with playwrights to create, premier and tour new plays across the nation as well as internationally. Whether collaborating with UK's leading writers or supporting emerging new writing companies by launching a bespoke playwright development space called "The Big Room", playwrights are always at the heart of everything they do. Their new two-hander that fuses comedy, dance and music by young playwright Laurence Wilson,"Tiny Volcanoes", presented in co-production with Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse, looks at issues of national identity and belonging in contemporary British society.
nabokov is an exhilarating new writing theatre company dedicated to commissioning, developing and producing backlash theatre that explores the human narrative within, and offers a provocative response to contemporary events, trends and agendas. Since 2001, they have produced critically acclaimed productions in London, Edinburgh and on tour including Kitchen, Bedtime Stories For bastards, Camarilla and Nikolina, Artefacts etc. The company aims to develop new work through events, workshops, readings and literary programmes, and development forums. Recently they launched a multi-arts event the Nabokov Arts Club, at Village Underground, in Shoreditch, London, that features plays, performance poetry, films, comedy, live music and DJs. nabokov’s new play that will be part of the Nu:Write Festival is called "Is Everyone O.K.?"
Oliver Smart's passion for puppetry and object theatre began while completing a degree in Visual Arts over twelve years ago. In his work he combines bizarre characters, evocative objects and naturalistic movements. Matt Short has extensive experience as a devisor and composer for theatre and film, and has sudied composition at Trinity College, London. Their sultry-voiced puppets will present their life stories to you in a little piece of theatre called "Suitcase Circus".
Phil Porter is a multi award winning playwright, librettist and TV writer. His work has been performed at Manchester Royal Exchange, Theatre 503, Off-Broadway, Latitude, Pentabus Theatre, Unicorn Theatre and Royal Opera House. He is currently writing plays for Northampton Theatre Royal and the Royal Shakespeare Company. In Zagreb, he will present a new piece entitled "Stealing Sweets and Punching People".
Tangram Theatre Company
Tangram Theatre Company was founded in France in 2005 by Daniel Goldman in association with Omar Elerian (Italy/Palestine), John Hinton (UK/Sweden), Johan Westergren (Sweden) and Sibusiso Khambule (South Africa). In 2006, Tangram Theatre Company moved to London where it has since produced ten multi-award and sell-out productions. Recognized for versatility, theatrical ambition and artistic excellence, Tangram Theatre Company is one of London’s most exciting young theatre companies. "The Origin of Species", their new musical comedy for all ages about barnacles, the perils of marrying your own cousin, and why dolphins are actually rabbit fish, is bound to make the Zagreb audience roar with laughter.
Kelly White – a.k.a. Cruella Ribbons
Kelly White – a.k.a. Cruella Ribbons – is an up-and-coming one girl act, who had previously played guitar at places like Glastonbury and SXSW, Texas, in Theoretical Girl’s backing band "The Equations". She cites Courtney Love, Grey Gardens, Liza Minnelli, Gaga, Debbie from "Addams Family Values", Madeline from "Death Becomes Her", Sylvia Plath, Au pairs and red lipstick as her influences and plays noisy elektropunk on solo guitar with pre-recorded "fancy" backing sounds.
